Scott Comegys launches campaign for NY State Senate to Serve the Finger Lakes

January 31st, 2024

Canandaigua, NY

Welcoming a crowd of people from around the Finger Lakes to New York Kitchen in Canandaigua, Scott Comegys highlighted the contributions of the Finger Lakes area and the need for better representation for the region in Albany to recognize those contributions and deliver more support for the area as he declared his candidacy for NY State Senator serving the 54th district, which is all of Livingston, Ontario, and Wayne Counties and part of Monroe County.

"We can easily appreciate the variety that our farms offer in terms of excellent foods and beverages that supply the culinary arts displayed in restaurants and homes throughout the area, the Finger Lakes really contributes a lot more than agriculture. We have incredible industry. We have incredible technology developed in the area that is not only contributing to our quality of life but is also helping us to explore our world and to explore space," Comegys said. He continued," We have a very rich culture that is inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us and that has inspired music and arts and literature. It has brought people to enjoy activities... in every season. We have world class education in our public schools and our higher education institutions."

"That alone deserves recognition in our state government. It deserves a loud voice and a bigger part in working with the state and how we move forward. We haven't had that."

Comegys said the lack of strong representation contributes to the fact that in the Finger Lakes "we do still have a lot of people in poverty. We still have people who are hungry. We still have people who are insecure about their housing or jobs... and we could do more about that if we had a better partnership with our state government."

Comegys said that if we built a better partnership and worked together the area could "deliver a better foundation where everyone who lives here can successfully live the lives they choose as their genuine selves and enjoy prosperity, security, dignity, and justice."

Comegys finished by saying "it is with that goal in mind that and the people in mind and the area in mind that I want to serve as the next Senator for the 54th district."
